April is a Resident in Counseling working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She graduated from Old Dominion University in 2019 with her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Prior to obtaining her master’s degree, she worked with individuals with special needs as a support professional in a recreation therapy
April works with children, adolescents, and adults in providing services for anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, self-esteem, relationships, stress, and school issues. She primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help people challenge and modify maladaptive thought patterns that often lead to harmful behaviors and emotions.
Additionally, April applies techniques from Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in her therapeutic practice. Her sessions often incorporate mindfulness, grounding techniques, and deep breathing.
She strives to create a therapeutic environment that allows people to share their stories, challenges, strengths, faith, spiritual development, and self-reflections to work towards becoming a healthier version of themselves.
